Valentine’s day

So in case you haven’t heard me shouting it from the rooftops, I lost my 20th pound!!!! Oh man that feels so good. I would be screaming louder except I gained two pounds in water and chocolate since it’s my favorite time of the month. :-(

But today being Valentines day, my man and me decided to splurge on Chocolate! It is like one of our most favorite things, we go to this little shop called Chocolate Maya here in Santa Barbara and buy all kinds of goodies like the heavenly little green tea Buddha and the dark chocolate with lavender. Oh I am drooling just writing this. Ok so this might not be in my “Slim for Life” plan but it is a holiday and my husband did buy them for me so what’s a girl to do. So today I am taking a break since I have been such a good girl and lost 20 lbs, I think it’s time for a treat.

So yesterday I ate:

gluten free waffles with strawberries and banana
aduki bean cassarole
hummus and veggies
grilled chicken breast with honey dijon glaze
brown rice
spinach salad
handful of sunflower seeds
1 square of 75% dark chocolate yum!

Chamomile Cafe in Carpinteria, Ca

My husband and I went for breakfast in one of our most favorite spots on Sunday; Carpinteria, Ca! It is a small town about 15 min south of Santa Barbara, towards LA. We normally frequent Esau’s or Cajun Kitchen but have recently come to love this little vegan/organic cafe called Chamomile Cafe. The food is great, very healthy. The pancakes come with homemade granola sprinkled on top and the oatmeal is great. This sunday i had the breakfast Quesadilla, so the BOMB! I can’t even describe how great the salsa was that came with it. What a fantastic invention, a quesadilla for breakfast!? The quesadilla itself was just scrambled egg and cheese but came with avocado, black beans and, as i mentioned already, amazing salsa. My husband Eric had the pancakes with this syrup that is to die for, we had a side of turkey sausage (brilliant!) and a potato pancake.

So my only complaint is the owner. She is so snarky and micromanages the staff so badly that it really ruins the experience. My suggestion would be to sit outside, that way you don’t have to hear her bitch at her staff and listen to her inability to provide her customers with service. Definately go for breakfast, and maybe even lunch and then go for a walk along the beach you will thank me later.

Whale Tail Deli

Lunch at Whale Tail Deli today always good and the outdoor seating is awesome. You get to look out over the whole of Arcada plaza. I usually go there for Breakfast (great burritos) but they have a decent lunch menu too, burgers, fries, grilled sandwiches and the staff is awesome! On Anapamu near Wells Fargo Bank

Lunch at Opal

I had lunch at Opal today, great spot that i think people forget about. Kinda pricey but worth the money in my mind. I had a seafood salad (scallops, salmon, shrimp etc.) atop spinach and piping hot. Very yummy. $12.95 which i think is totally decent for a salad.
Mom had the Asian Chicken Salad, enormous, very tasty. And my dad had the Scallop special which came with some sort of israeli couscous. He said the scallops were delicious. Overall a great experience, took a bit longer than I would have liked but pleasant and will go again.

Wahoo Fish Tacos

Jenn and I went to Wahoo Fish Tacos on Wednesday for lunch www.wahoos.com . It was alright, not my favorite fish tacos ever, but it was fast and the service was AWESOME!! Great for a night out after a few beers.
